Original Quotes:
Florence Nightingale
"I can stand out the war with any man"

Stephen Hawking
"We still have some way to go"

my interpretation to Stephen's quote is that we always have something new to explore even though we might just discovered something or we have some difficulties. My interpretation to Florence's quote is that nothing should be defined as the weak, every single one can be outstanding

animation 3

The third animation is used to decribe the spaces that from the ground floor to the lower studio. The lower studio is based on the word:change. In the studio, a gap is created to change the way that people may want to do. The gap is used to restrict people's behavior--- keep people away from the collection that hang on the wall.

Animation 2 is used to decribe the interior of the ground floor and the stairs that used to go to the upper studio. The stiars are the main points in the galary space. And i like the ceiling that produced by the stairs.

animation1

The first animation is used to provide a general idea about the model. The model is designed based on the two words: contrast and change which are picked up from the artists sidney norlan and ricky sollow's work. The upper ground is based on contrast and the lower ground is based on change.

two model sketches

The model is based on the two words: contrast and change.
the model is mainly consisted of concrete and glass. The glass is used to provide a brighter condition. And in this case, wood is uesed to make the stairs. A large pool whose top is covered by glass is built to let the sun light go through and enter the lower ground.

artist's work

Ricky Swallow is a sculpturer and he did a lot of works based on the bone. He might use plasticine to achieve the work. To achieve that, he might need to get the plasticine first and then do the sculpture, it might need to consider the position of every work and also the shape as well. But in this case, Ricky might use wood and curve that after which he might use paper to stick on that. However, if just look it from the picture, it has a quite similar effect of using plasticine.

artist's work

Rick Swallow has a series of sculpture about the death-head using the complete different idea as the normal thinking. He design the death-head using
kind of translucent plastic. It is molded and provide a sense of interesting. The final works are not scaring, in contrast, it is lovly and even like a toy. Because of using plastic, the death-head can be printed into different colours and also the intersection is clear but strong. Since using translucent plastic, it will not be scaring by looking through the bones which seems like looking at the brain. This can protect the things inside of the it and also a good solution of design scaring things in a different way.
